ACE'98, from the courts to your feet.
Game over. Laure, founder of Zèta, watches her father pick up the worn-out balls and throw them away. A simple, almost trivial gesture.
Yet a question arises: what if these balls could live a different life?
From this intuition, a bold idea was born: incorporating recycled tennis balls into a pair of sneakers.
ACE’98 pays tribute to the world of tennis and everything it passes down. A sneaker that celebrates both the past and the future, the game, the memories, and this precious bond across generations.
A vintage heritage, in 5 shades.

14 million balls thrown away each year.
On the court, a tennis ball lasts barely a few hours. In professional tennis, it is even replaced after just thirty minutes of play! Yet its environmental impact lasts for centuries.
In France alone, 14 million balls end up in the bin every year. Almost all of them are sent to landfill or incinerated.
When you consider that a single ball takes 400 years to decompose while releasing methane and microplastics into nature, the reality is sobering.
Instead of standing by, we decided to change the game by collecting worn-out tennis balls to incorporate them into our sneakers!
The ball is in our court.
HOW THEY WEAR IT
Your questions about the ACE'98 collection
Where do the tennis balls come from?
Our balls are collected from partner tennis clubs in Porto, just a few kilometres from our workshops!
How are the balls incorporated into the trainer?
The balls (rubber and felt) are ground into fine granules, then mixed with recycled rubber. This blend is then heat-pressed into a mould to form the sole.
Why did you choose to recycle tennis balls?
A tennis ball is used for only a few hours, but takes 400 years to decompose. In France, 14 million balls are thrown away each year due to a lack of recycling streams. We therefore decided to collect them and incorporate them directly into our sneakers!
Where are the items in the ACE'98 collection made?
The collection is made in Portugal, in the Porto region, to stay as close as possible to the clubs where we collect the balls. Only the cap is made in France, in Montpellier.
Is this a limited edition?
It is not strictly speaking a limited edition, but we chose to produce this first batch in small quantities. Stocks are therefore limited for this launch. If you like a model, we recommend not waiting too long, as this first production wave could sell out fairly quickly...
