An important point: Portugal is THE shoe-producing country in Europe. They have an ancestral and widely recognised expertise that truly took off in the 1970s.
Today, we are proud to collaborate with the finest workshops and the finest craftspeople in the region: Tierri, Albano, Manuel, Licinia… They work in Ovar and Vizela, in family-run workshops in the north of Portugal, where expertise is passed down from generation to generation. Some have been working here for more than 30 years, bringing the same passion and the same quality as on their very first day.
100% hand-assembled.
Small hands, great talent.
Here, there is no mass production. Every pair is assembled, checked and tested by hand. So it's not 1% of products that are randomly checked as in some factories (you know what we mean…). It's 100%. Each pair is then meticulously scrutinised, allowing us to reduce the risk of defects to an absolute minimum.
The difference between a good and a very good product?
Its level of detail.
But to raise the level of detail, time must be devoted to it. At a time when production is intensifying and accelerating, we choose to slow down and take the time. Take the time to do things well and to repeat our processes until they reach perfection.
To give you an idea, it takes between 5 and 6 hours to produce a single pair. It passes from hand to hand and from station to station, going through around twenty experts: cutting of panels, assembly, sole bonding, quality control at every stage and packaging… In fact, the true expression isn't "goldsmith's work" but "craftsman's work from Ovar".
Prioritising comfort.
Finally, a shoe that truly fits.
It was by listening to all your feedback that we understood the problem with today's trainers. They hurt your feet after a day's wear. And let's not even mention wearing them several days in a row. So we made comfort our top priority:
• Thick recycled rubber sole, slightly angled to encourage perfect posture. Offering more cushioning than the vast majority of pairs on the market.
• Woven cotton interior, which doesn't retain heat, but wraps the foot in a padded material and keeps it supported.
• And most importantly: the test. Before launch, every new product is tested in real conditions to ensure its durability and comfort over several months. If we are not fully satisfied, it's back to the materials sourcing and production stage to start again.
