Make your shampoo at home

Faire son shampoing à la maison

Opt for homemade shampoo : an economical, ecological, sustainable and fun alternative. At Zèta , we know how important it is to take care of your hair AND the planet. That's why we're sharing our best tips for making homemade shampoo that's natural, effective and suitable for your hair.

I. Why make your own shampoo?

1. The drawbacks of traditional shampoos

Traditionally, shampoos are loaded with harsh sulfates, such as SLS , and controversial preservatives like parabens. These substances can have harmful effects on your hair. Today, we're going to share some natural alternatives you can make at home. Homemade shampoo recipes allow you to choose gentle, scalp-healthy ingredients that are customized to your needs and desires.

One of the main reasons to switch to homemade shampoo is to preserve your hair's natural balance. The silicones found in many commercial products can weigh hair down and cause harmful buildup. Making your own shampoo at home can help you avoid these additives. In addition to promoting softness and shine, homemade shampoo helps you avoid the use of artificial colors and fragrances that can damage your scalp.

What's more, traditional shampoos often contain ingredients whose production has a negative impact on the environment. Most shampoos are made with water (a fairly common ingredient in our country), and the whole thing is packaged in disposable plastic. By using natural ingredients and avoiding excessive plastic packaging, you'll be helping to preserve our beloved planet.

2. The benefits of homemade shampoos

Homemade shampoos can have several benefits, although their effectiveness can vary depending on the ingredients used and individual hair type. Below is a list of the benefits of homemade shampoos:

🌳 Use of natural ingredients: Homemade shampoos often use natural ingredients such as essential oils, herbs, fruits, honey, etc. These ingredients provide beneficial nutrients to the hair. Above all, they avoid the use of harmful ingredients, as mentioned above.

🧪 Skip the harsh chemicals: By avoiding the harsh chemicals found in many shampoos, you'll reduce the risk of scalp irritation and allergic reactions (and the planet will thank you).

🛠 Personalization: You have the ability to customize your shampoo based on your specific needs. Whether it's for hydration, shine, volume, or to treat specific issues like dandruff. Making your own shampoo at home allows you to create YOUR personalized shampoo.

🌿 Reduce environmental impact: By making your own shampoo, you can reduce your plastic use by using reusable containers. This contributes to a more environmentally friendly approach.

💸 Cost: In many cases, making your own shampoo can be more economical than purchasing equivalent quality shampoos on the market. Plus, the choice of materials allows you to tailor your shampoo to your budget.
