Do you ship your trainers outside Europe?
Until early 2025, we refused to deliver outside Europe due to the carbon emissions generated by air freight. However, economic realities caught up with us, and to continue growing, we had no choice but to open up the Asian and American markets. These sales represent less than 0.1% of our turnover. But that is still 0.1% too much.
We firmly believe that sometimes you have to concede a little ground to gain twice as much later. Our goal by 2030: generate sufficient business volume to open a local logistics hub and deliver by cargo sailboat in large quantities.

A question? hello@zeta-shoes.com
Which shoe size should I choose?
Our shoes are designed to fit all feet, and we recommend choosing your usual size. If you ever have any doubt about the size, please feel free to check the guide available on each product page!
What is the lifespan of your trainers?
Our materials are carefully selected so that you can keep your trainers for as long as possible.
Before launch, each of our prototypes is tested by the CTCP (Footwear Technological Centre of Portugal) for flexibility and abrasion resistance. In addition, our prototypes are tested under real conditions by our team and selected Zèta club members.
Each pair is assembled by hand by our Portuguese artisans, and rigorous quality control is carried out at the end of every production run.
Are your shoes comfortable?
Comfort is often overlooked by brands when designing shoes.
At Zèta, we place aesthetics, ethics, and comfort at the heart of every product development.
Thanks to their thick soles and ultra-soft lining, our shoes feel like real slippers (approved and recommended by osteopaths)!
No more blisters and leg pain: they will be your best companion for long walks in the city as well as in the forest.
Are all your models unisex?
All our sneaker models are unisex. We offer sizes ranging from 35 to 48.
We design each model to adapt to the morphology of the foot (width, instep, heel) and the insoles are removable so you can insert your custom orthotics if needed.
We also offer a unisex kids' range, from size 21 to 34. Just like with all our adult models, comfort is at the heart of this collection.
Here too, the mould is perfectly tailored to the anatomy of a child's foot, ensuring perfect comfort.
Are your products available exclusively online?
No, we do not only sell our sneakers online.
You can find most of our models in our stockists across France and Europe, right here.

How do I care for my trainers?
Click here to go straight to our Care Guide.
We recommend waterproofing your shoes to protect them from stains and moisture.
Clean your shoes with a sponge or soft cloth and soapy water.
Please note: we do not recommend putting your shoes in the washing machine.
To restore their whiteness and brightness, we recommend using clay cream, a natural shoe cleaner, or our natural cleaning kit.
What’s the difference between sneakers and trainers?
Almost none! Both words refer to casual shoes worn every day. “Sneaker” comes from the English verb to sneak, a nod to their quiet rubber soles. In French, “basket” is short for “basketball shoe”. At Zèta, we use both words.
How do you care for your trainers?
First things first: waterproof them from day one to protect them from stains and moisture. After that, all you need is a sponge or soft cloth and a little soapy water. Keep them out of the washing machine!
To brighten up your white trainers, try clay cream, a natural cleaner, or our cleaning kit.
After cleaning, let them air-dry away from radiators, and tuck a little newspaper inside to help them keep their shape.
What is a barefoot trainer?
It’s a trainer designed to feel like walking barefoot: a thin, flexible sole, zero drop (the heel and forefoot are at the same height) and a wide toe box that lets your toes spread out.
The idea? To let your feet move naturally. While a conventional trainer cushions and guides every step, a barefoot trainer lets your feet do the work. You can wear it every day, around town or on a walk, provided you ease into it over the first few weeks.
Why switch to barefoot shoes?
Because your feet know how to walk on their own! Without thick cushioning or a raised heel, they return to a more natural posture and start working with every step.
That’s where barefoot shoes come into their own. The muscles in your feet and ankles work harder and gradually grow stronger. A thin sole lets you feel the ground better, helping your balance. And with more room at the front, your toes can finally spread out instead of being squeezed together all day.
A true sense of freedom, guaranteed!
What are smart shoes?
They’re the shoes you slip on for the office or dinner when you want to look a little smarter than you would in trainers: loafers, slip-ons, derbies, ballet flats… Ours are vegan and designed for all-day walking.
What sets them apart from trainers? A sleeker silhouette and more refined finishing touches that work just as well with dark denim as with suit trousers. At Zèta, we wanted the best of both worlds: the elegance of smart shoes and the comfort of trainers.
What are the different types of smart shoes?
There are several types of smart shoes, each with its own distinctive feature. A loafer has no laces and slips on in a second. The tasselled version adds a more retro touch.
Among lace-up styles, a derby is recognisable by its eyelet tabs stitched on top of the shoe’s upper. Ballet flats are low-cut and flat, with or without a strap. Finally, a boat shoe is a loafer with decorative laces, originally designed for wearing by the sea.
Don’t confuse a derby with an Oxford, whose eyelet tabs are stitched beneath the upper: Oxfords are dressier, while derbies are more relaxed.
What is a loafer?
It’s a low-cut, slip-on shoe with no laces. First worn in the early 20th century, it takes inspiration from English driving shoes.
Our loafers are handmade in Portugal from oleatex, a material made from olive by-products. Its simple silhouette has made it a wardrobe classic for men and women alike. All of ours are unisex, too!
Why wear loafers?
Because they’re practical (no laces!), go with everything from jeans to smart trousers, and never go out of style. Ours add comfort too: a soft material that moulds to your feet and an insole made from recycled foam.
Are ballet flats in fashion?
Yes, very much so! Ballet flats are back in the spotlight, especially styles with a strap. Our Gaia have embraced the look, in black or cow print.
To style them, play with contrasts: try straight-leg jeans and an oversized jumper, wide-leg trousers or a midi dress. And for a more modern look, dare to show your socks.
Which ballet flats are the most comfortable?
Comfortable ballet flats do exist! Look at the sole (a little thickness is better than a completely flat sole), the strap (it keeps your foot in place) and the material (it should be soft so it doesn’t rub your heel).
Which jackets are in fashion?
This autumn, we’re all craving something cosy: sheepskin-look sherpa jackets, zip-up fleeces and sleeveless gilets!
For colours, we’re sticking with natural shades: beige, camel, forest green and chocolate. A sherpa jacket looks just as good over a sweatshirt at the weekend as it does over a shirt at the office. And at Zèta, we design our sherpa jackets and sleeveless gilets with the same attention to detail as our shoes.

Life cycle assessment
In 2022, we decided to conduct a life cycle assessment of our products and engaged the independent third-party body Bevivien to measure the carbon impact.
From the production of raw materials through transport, shipping, and footwear assembly to final delivery to the customer, a pair of Zèta emits 6kg CO2 eq, compared to 16kg CO2 eq for a pair from a major sportswear brand.
Each of our raw materials comes from recycling or upcycled waste, and is selected based on its distance from the final assembly workshop in order to minimise our carbon footprint.
Impact assessment
The impact of our products is assessed by Clearfashion, an independent body dedicated to informing consumers about brand commitments and the impact of clothing.
Always guided by transparency towards our customers, we chose to evaluate our products based on criteria measuring impact on the environment, people, health, and animals.
After long months of evaluation across the entire life cycle of our products and the reliability of our certifications, we are proud to have achieved the highest score in the footwear category: 79/100.
What are vegan shoes?
Vegan shoes are made without any animal-derived materials. No leather, no wool, no animal-based glue.
At Zèta, our materials come from agricultural by-products: grape pomace, maize, olives and coffee. We turn these reclaimed resources into shoes, using PETA-certified materials.
Which brands make vegan shoes?
More and more brands offer one or two vegan styles. At Zèta, it’s the entire collection: trainers, loafers, derbies and ballet flats.
Zèta is a Bordeaux-based brand founded in 2020. Our shoes are made in Portugal from plant-based agricultural by-products and recycled materials. And we scored 79/100 on Clearfashion — the highest rating in the footwear category!
How long do vegan materials last?
How long they last depends mainly on the quality of the materials and how they’re made, not on whether the shoes are vegan. Ours are tested at the CTCP for flexibility and durability, then assembled by hand by our craftspeople.
To help them last, waterproof them and clean them with a sponge (never in the washing machine!).
With proper care, a quality pair of vegan shoes will see you through season after season, just like any other good pair of shoes.
