Olive — What the olive groves leave us

Olive oil is extracted. What's left is usually forgotten. At Zèta, that's where it all begins. Skins, pits, olive fragments: all these residues, called pomace, are ground and then transformed into shoe material.

A by-product turned resource

After grinding, the pomace is mixed with a water-based PU. The resulting paste is then tinted with natural pigments, spread on a thick canvas, and then baked to stabilize its shape.

It is then cut in Istanbul and assembled in our workshops. This process helps limit losses, optimize olive oil waste, and offer a viable alternative to other, less responsible materials.

A commitment to materials and products

The material is made of 87% olive , and 13% water-based PU .

It is developed under the Oleatex® certification, a benchmark in terms of plant-based alternatives from olive groves.

Why use it?

Our materials are carefully selected to be comfortable to wear and long-lasting. Before launch, all our prototypes pass through the hands of the CTCP (Centro Tecnológico do Calçado de Portugal) for flexibility and abrasion testing. They are then tested in real conditions by our team and members of the Zèta club.

Each pair is hand-assembled by our Portuguese artisans, then subjected to a rigorous quality control process to ensure your comfort meets our standards — and yours.

Since its creation, this workshop has made it a point of honour to preserve the tradition of Portuguese shoemaking, while integrating modern and responsible practices.
