Why did we create our first barefoot shoes?
Laure, founder of Zèta, shares the story behind this first collection, our vision of barefoot footwear and why we wanted to give our feet more freedom.
What if your feet regained their freedom?
For millennia, humans walked barefoot across soil, rocks and grass. The human foot was built for this. Then padded shoes, wedge heels and maximum cushioning were invented: the foot forgot how to walk...
Barefoot shoes are designed to let the foot move more naturally, with extra room for your toes, a thin, flexible sole and zero drop.
More freedom and natural sensation with every step.

Your questions about barefoot shoes
What is a barefoot shoe?
A barefoot shoe is designed to respect the foot's natural movement.
Closer to the ground, it gives your toes more room, supports every step and offers more natural sensations. The aim is not to walk barefoot, but to rediscover a freer way of walking!
What is the difference between a barefoot trainer and a classic trainer?
The foot has 26 bones. It is made to move, adapt and feel.
Classic trainers, on the other hand, are often built around a few key areas: the heel, the arch and the forefoot. More cushioning, more support, more thickness. On paper, that is reassuring. But by guiding the foot too much, we can sometimes end up giving it less freedom.
Barefoot trainers follow a different logic: they bring the foot closer to the ground, give the toes more room and support natural foot placement, allowing the foot to move more freely.
Why wear barefoot shoes?
For millennia, our feet have evolved to walk freely. Barefoot shoes are inspired by this philosophy, giving the foot the space it needs to move naturally.
At Zèta, we believe you do not correct the foot; you give it back its space!
Why choose Zèta trainers?
Zèta barefoot trainers were born from a simple conviction: a shoe that respects the foot should not look like a technical shoe.
So we have brought together the best of both worlds. A barefoot design that gives your feet greater freedom of movement, paired with a clean silhouette inspired by our trainers, designed for everyday wear.
Like all our pairs, they are handmade in Portugal, in our family workshop, using vegan and recycled materials selected for their quality and durability.
Is the model unisex?
Yes, the model is unisex and available from size 36 to 46 (UK 3 to 11). Its design has been crafted to suit both women's and men's feet!
