Trainers have become the essential shoe, worn 300 days a year. But when you start looking behind the scenes — between animal leather and polluting chemical processes — you realise there is a problem. It is from this observation that Zèta was born. We wanted to create a vegan trainer that has nothing to envy of classic designs, whether in terms of look, durability or comfort.

A revolution growing in the fields, not in the feedlots

The basic idea is simple, but it changes everything: replacing leather with incredible plant-based materials. The term "faux leather" is often used to describe plain plastic, but here, the approach is different. Our vegan trainer draws its strength from the upcycling of agricultural by-products.

Whether using grape residues, maize or even coffee, we obtain a material that looks like leather, ages like it, but is infinitely more respectful of life. Choosing a Zèta vegan trainer means supporting a circular economy where no unnecessary new materials are produced — we transform what already exists.

Ultra-comfortable vegan trainers

We are often asked: "Are they really comfortable?" We all have the memory of a stiff shoe that ruined our feet for a week. With our vegan trainers, it is quite the opposite.
The plant-based fibres we use are naturally supple. They require no break-in period: from the very first wear, the trainer follows your movement. Inside, we have worked on recycled insoles that offer genuine cushioning, because an ethical shoe must first and foremost be a shoe you enjoy wearing from morning to evening, whether you are running for your bus or lingering on a terrace.

From Bordeaux to Portugal: a production process with a human face

A vegan trainer would not truly be consistent if it were made on the other side of the world under opaque conditions. That is why we chose proximity. Everything is designed in Bordeaux, in our offices, then assembled by hand in Portugal, in a family-run factory.

This human dimension is what enables impeccable finishes. We know the craftspeople who make your shoes, we know the origin of every organic cotton lace and every piece of recycled rubber. It is this complete traceability that makes Zèta a committed brand, and not just another fashion brand.

Are vegan trainers durable? 

This is without doubt the question we hear most! The answer is a resounding yes. Our plant-based materials are designed to be waterproof and robust. We have tested our vegan trainers in all conditions (even under the grey Bordeaux skies!). They are not afraid of moisture or city pavements. To keep them in perfect condition, a light application of waterproofing spray from time to time is enough to protect them from stains. 

Which vegan trainer should you choose?

The magic of a white or beige trainer lies in its versatility. A Zèta vegan trainer pairs just as well with raw denim as with tailored trousers to break a too-formal look. Ladies, with a long skirt or a summer dress, it works every time. It is the kind of staple that simplifies life in the morning.

How do you care for your vegan trainers? 

Forget shoe polish and animal-based waxes. To care for your vegan trainer, warm water, a little mild soap and a clean cloth work wonders. If the sole is slightly marked, an old toothbrush can help. The key is to avoid the washing machine, which is the number one enemy of the structure of any quality shoe.
