Why create vegan shoes?

If you look a little closer at animal leather, it accounts for 20% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Beyond environmental issues, animal leather raises health and ethical concerns.

  • More than 16 million people are exposed to the hazards of tanning

  • Every year, 1 billion animals are killed for their skins.

  • It takes almost 20 times more energy resources to produce 1KG of leather.

The importance of consuming less but better. In response to this observation and to tackle this polluting industry, the textile sector is developing sustainable materials to protect the environment—something hard to imagine just five years ago.

Plant-based innovation: vegan shoes.

For some time now, numerous ecological innovations have been emerging.

Why choose vegan shoes?

Beyond the ethical aspect, a real ecological impact can be seen. Leather production is responsible for 18% of greenhouse gases. Opting for vegan shoes made from pineapple, for instance, is part of a zero-waste approach since the entire fruit is used. You thus avoid conventional shoes made with harmful components such as PVC, a plastic highly detrimental to the environment and to health.

Zèta: Vegan Shoes Made from Grapes.

Since September, Zèta has been making trainers recycled from the by-products of
winemaking (72% grape, 28% water-based PU).

In total, a recycled pair of Alpha trainers helps upcycle 3kg of waste.
