5 tips to make your crowdfunding campaign a success

réussir sa campagne de crowdfunding

Zèta was launched in September 2020 via a crowdfunding campaign on Ulule. In 1 month, 2,683 pairs of Alpha were pre-ordered, making it the most funded fashion campaign on the platform!

Today, we share 5 tips for running a successful crowdfunding campaign.

1) Put all your focus on video!

Everyone will tell you, 80% of people who visit your project page will watch your presentation video without lingering on your visuals (beware, that does not mean you should neglect them!).
Whether you adopt a funny, serious, or even combined tone: your video must be clear, with high-quality image and sound, and concise enough not to exceed 2 minutes.

Laure's tip: Work on your script and write down every single scene in detail so that everything is clear and ready for the shoot day. Don't hesitate to introduce yourself during the video: everyone wants to know who is behind this fantastic project ;-)

2) Use clear visuals!

Have you never done any design and lack a creative flair?

No one expects you to be Picasso. Everything can be learned!
The key is to communicate clearly: a few key current figures, the problem encountered, the solution you provide, the project's background, and its founder.

Laure's tip: Don't have the resources to hire a communications agency? No worries! Canva is an easy-to-use tool that will allow you to create high-quality visuals.

3) Prepare a press kit for your crowdfunding campaign!

As we know, the media plays an essential role in launching a project. Several weeks before the launch, compile a database containing press (print and online), radio, and television contacts.

Prepare a press kit with an attractive visual, along with a concise one-page press release.

Please note: it should not be sent on launch day, but rather a few days prior so that journalists have time to schedule the release of their article. If your idea must remain confidential until launch day, feel free to ask journalists to keep the information under embargo.

Don't overlook any media outlet! Whether it's a local newspaper or a niche media outlet: each one matters. The more appearances you make, the more recognition your project will gain.

Laure's tip: At the end of your crowdfunding campaign, remember to add a "Download press kit" button with a PDF link. This way, journalists will have open access to all necessary information, increasing your chances of gaining visibility.

4) Communicate!

No one should find out that you are launching your crowdfunding campaign on launch day. For social media, organise a schedule for your various posts and stories.

The secret? Generating excitement without giving too much away. Mini-teasers, blurred photos, or puzzles… keep the suspense going until launch day.

Laure's tip: Prepare, organise, and schedule! Platforms such as Hootsuite and Planthat will help you plan and schedule your communication activities.

5) Set yourself clear goals!

Whether regarding timeline or budget, setting goals beforehand helps solidify your project.

Your campaign should be long enough to create momentum around your project and reach enough people to achieve your launch goals.
However, not too long, so that your momentum doesn't fade...

Laure's tip: Do not hesitate to outline the development of your financial goals step-by-step (how this campaign will help you!) to ensure full transparency and motivate your community to support you.

The cards are now in your hands: over to you!
