Before caring for your trainers, it is important to know what materials you are dealing with! The vegan shoes Zèta are made exclusively from recycled materials: a plant-based material derived from grape, maize or coffee grounds, an inner lining made from plastic bottles recovered from the Mediterranean, laces made from recycled plastic, a removable inner sole in recycled cork and finally an outer sole in recycled synthetic rubber.
These materials need, like any other pair of shoes, to be carefully maintained to preserve their appearance.
Do not wait until your trainers are dirty before taking care of them. Like any pair of trainers, the dirtier they get, the harder they are to restore. Bear in mind that plant-based material is a natural material that does not respond well to chemical products, so it is strongly advised against using products intended for animal-based materials or conventional stain removers.
Clean your trainers effectively in 4 steps
1. Trainers made from plant-based vegan leather are not as waterproof as trainers made from animal leather. We therefore recommend waterproofing your shoes to protect them properly. This will help them withstand rain and prevent stains.
2. For maintenance, a sponge or a soft cloth with soapy water will be sufficient to keep them looking their best. Ideally, we recommend using natural soap to avoid chemical substances.
3. To restore their brightness and shine, we recommend using clay cream, a natural cleanser that cleans recycled shoes without damaging them.
4. Proper care for your vegan trainers also extends to the laces. We recommend putting them in the washing machine with a little bicarbonate of soda — they will come out looking brand new!

How to extend the life of your vegan trainers?
If you are looking to extend the life of your trainers, here are some useful tips.
First of all, store them in the right place. To avoid moisture, keep them in a dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.
To prevent unpleasant odours, place a small open container filled with bicarbonate of soda near your shoes. Also make sure to give them some air.
Avoid wearing them every day without allowing them to breathe.
These simple tips will help you extend the life of your vegan shoes.
How to repair your damaged trainers
If your pair of Zèta is damaged, do not throw them away just yet! In many cases, it is possible to repair them rather than replace them. To replace the sole or the heel rubber, you can take them to a qualified cobbler. This is an economical and ecological way to extend the life of your shoes. Moreover, under the AGEC law, a Repair Bonus is available to help you financially to repair rather than replace. So, before discarding your damaged shoes, consider having them repaired. Find accredited repairers and the discount amounts under the Repair Bonus scheme.
